Chardonnay Leithaberg DAC 2016

Bright green yellow. On the nose, inviting apricot fruit, ripe apple, accompanied by smoky minerality, some mango, delicate honey. On the palate, rich-in-finesse texture, full-bodied - elegant, white fruit, delicate green apple, good acid structure, mineralic with long lingering finish.

Hand picking September 11th, 2016 preselection in the vineyard, additional selection the sorting belt, short maceration, gentle pressing, spontaneous fermentation, malolactic fermentation, 11 months aging on the lees in 1800 l barrels, bottling August 28th, 2017.

Comes from up to 24-years-old vines on two top-locations of the Leitha Mountains in Purbach. Limestone and slate alternate on this mixed soils. Ideal conditions for the typical Leithaberg DAC style. Tension, finesse, liveliness coupled with the complexity result in a long-living Chardonnay.

The protected designation of origin Leithaberg DAC stands for tension, liveliness, tightly woven structur and complexity. The mineral soils with the climate of the region, offer this Chardonnay optimal conditions.

Blaufränkisch Leithaberg DAC 2015

Deep ruby red with a dark core and purple hues. Intense dark berry fruit, cassis and candied violets, complex bouquet. On the palate, full-bodied cherry fruit, subtle hint of tobacco-spice, complex, playfully, long finish with fine salty nuances.

Hand picking September 21st to 29th, 2015 pre-selection in the vineyard, additional selecton on the sorting belt, spontaneous fermentation, manual immersion in stainless steel tanks for 21 days, maceration, malolactic fermentation, 14 months aging in large and small oak barrels. Bottling February 21st, 2017.

"The Leithaberg must be tasteable," was our credo, when " we 14" came together 2004/2005, in order to create this consortium. Spice, minerality, fruit, excitement and elegance stand for this authentic style of those wines with the three letters "DAC".

Blaufränkisch Leithaberg DAC Rosenberg 2012

Aromatic, minerally Blaufränkisch, characterized by schistose soil.
Intense ruby garnet, delicate brightening at edge. In the nose delicatly aromatic, nuances of rosehip-konfit, smoky, dark slate-touch, accompanied by forest berry aromas, bay leaf. Juicy, complex, sweet, persistent fruit, well integrated tannins, spicy aftertaste, showing a great length, fine floral notes in the finish, extract sweet fruit and a touch of nougat, very good aging potential.

Hand picking Ocotober 8th, 2012, pre-selection in the vineyard, additional selection on the sorting belt, processing according to the principle of gravity without pumps, manual immersion in open stainless steel container, 24 days of maceration, malolactic fermentation, 20 months aging in 500 barrels, bottling September 12nd, 2014.

Vineyard Rosenberg is an exposed hillside just above Purbach. The altitude is about 250 meters and thus one of the highest vineyards on Leithaberg.
At night, the forest above cools the grapes more than usual.
Soil: Mica schist with quartz inclusions, iron-rich.

The Rosenberg is a further development of the "DAC" idea and represents the peak power, of what is possible in a few selected prime locations on the Leitha Mountains. In short - there can hardly be anything better!
